Mamba launches MambaBiz (Gay Business Directory)

SA Queers Up In Arms Over Fake 'Gay Idols' Contest

South African Queer folk are up in arms over being led up the garden path by an alleged, con artist over several local queer events which turned out to be quite less than what was promised.
According to sources Tony Lorenz aka Antonio Manuel de Sousa aka Tony de Sousa is being sought for fraud.

Being sought for fraud however doesn't faze him one bit and he is proceeding with further bogus 'events' such as "SA Gay Idol" for which he doesn't even hold the local registration, nor trademark. (See Facebook.)

This after the so-called "Mr Gay SA International" fiasco - where the winner did not receive most of his prizes. The winner was also not entered and flown to the main Mr Gay International event as promised by Mr Lorenz on the South African Gay Radio Station show, Bravo Brava. Legal proceedings regarding this matter have also been initiated.
It actually transpired that someone else, Mr Andy Le Monier from Pretoria, owns the rights to the title "Mr Gay International SA" and is the actual approved affiliate of the international competition in South Africa.

We also have a confidential private investigators report on hand which states that Mr Tony Lorenz aka de Sousa -1. is being sued by several parties2. does not reside in SA but in the USA and slips in and out of the country3. is not allowed to have a bank account in SA - the last one he had was with ABSA in 2004, of which +- R15 000 was written of as bad debt4. purports to act under the name of a CC - Cool Connections CC - which is not a registered close corporation at all5. is being investigated by SARS

When pressured about the so-called recording contract on offer as a prize in his next alleged fraudulent even, SA Gay Idol, his local partner of the event, Marshall Naidu responded on the wall of the Facebook event:"We have not yet secured a recording contract with any company, we are still in working on that with a few companies...if you read carefully you would see that it says 'YOU COULD WIN' "

Thus, no recording contract exists. Thus bogus prizes on offer.

It would appear that Mr Lorenz aka de Sousa is using the South African queer community as a cash cow and duping people into believing in his bogus events and titles. How many got conned into buying tickets in advance for above mentioned event? How many entered the alleged bogus competition only to get their dreams shattered? Miriam Makeba - you will be missed Mama Africa

The world was dealt a blow early this morning, in a small town outside Naples, Italy when Zenzile Miriam Makeba..Mama Afrika to the world, passed away.. and left this earth, aged 76 years. She was born on 4th March 1932.

Whilst this great lady was alive she would say “I will sing until the last day of my life”

Zenzile Miriam Makeba collapsed on stage, at the end of her set, after singing Pata Pata,. She was immediately attended to by her grandson Nelson Lumumba Lee and others before being rushed to the nearest hospital. Tragically, in the early hours of this 10th of November 2008 morning, the doctors pronounced that they were unable to revive her.

Ambassador Makeba, was with her band, and was performing before an outdoor audience, in the open air at Via Verde, in the small town of Castelvolturno, not far from Naples. The audience included her long time friend, Italian promoter, Roberto Meglioli, who she had called on Friday from Holland, and asked to attend her show. He was on stage with her at the end of the show, and there she collapsed into his arms.

Dr Miriam Makeba never forgot her struggle through her life, and never stopped identifying with those who were downtrodden and who suffered. An activist to the end, the event where she was performing at, was an Anti-Racism and Anti-Mafia Event. “Mazi” as she was affectionately known by those who knew her well, never shied from speaking her mind and standing for her beliefs. She was an outstanding South African, a and indeed a gracious and true citizen of the World.

Zenzile Miriam Makeba is survived by her grandchildren Nelson Lumumba Lee and Zenzi Monique Lee, and her great- grandchildren Lindelani, Ayanda and Kwame.

RuPaul (or rather RudePaul) - Biggest disappointment of 2008

All the hype and all the talking about RuPaul coming to SA - and when it was all over, we wished that (s)he rather stayed at home.

Now there is a fine line between fashionably late (which all "stars" are allowed to be I suppose) and being disrespectful and rude. RuPaul (or RudePaul as we have now dubbed him/her) has crossed that line and sitting on firmly on the DISRESPECTFUL AND RUDE side after letting the crowd (including me) wait for more than an hour for her/his arrival. Then did a few songs and disappeared again. Pathetic !!

Now if you are late - your performance must be fantastic to make up for you being late. But the performance we saw was watered down, uninteresting and (yaaawn) sorry to say borring. We left the VIP section to go dance inside half-way through the show - and by the amount of people that came through the doors - believe me, we were not the only people who felt the same way.

RudePaul: We are Africans (and maybe you felt we don't deserve you being on time) - but you definitely don't have the SPUNK or the PaZAZZZ we thought you had to entertain us. Hope the people in the US put up with your constant lateness and disrespectful behaviour towards fans (now ex-fans !!)

Thanks Therapy for you guys saved the day - the party after RudePaul was fantastic.
